He served under Dennis Rendall and Keith Starling. He taught History at all levels in the school but particularly 6th form, he was the master in charge of Cricket and managed the first XI for a number of years, starring in the Masters v School fixtures. He wrote a history of the school for the centenary. He remained very proud of his association with Judd and took an active interest in the school throughout the rest of his life.
