Junior Chess Triangular
On Tuesday 3rd December Judd hosted the inaugural Junior Chess Triangular welcoming teams from Skinners and St Olaves' for an afternoon of chess aimed at giving Year 7 and 8 experience of a tournament format. Enjoyment and participation were the primary objectives, many pupils were playing in their first competition with clocks and official rules, but the games also uncovered some real talent in the lower school.
Judd A finished 3rd and Judd B 5th playing in five rounds of 7 minute Blitz timings. Chess club continues to grow, and during the regular after school session on Tuesday 17th December 3.45- 4.40 we have a special event open to players completely new to the game who want to learn the rules and some basic tactics to get them up and running ready to challenge friends and family members over Christmas- we hope to see some new people there.
