Cross Country teams head to Leeds
It was a mixed day of success at the Regional Cup Final on Wednesday.
Competing on a home course at Vizards, tweaked this year to make it as 'hilly' as possible, the runners gave their all against the best of Kent, Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire, and three of our four teams succeeded in qualifying for the Cup Final. As we feared, the Senior Boys came unstuck against the superb opposition of two Sixth Form Colleges, and our local rivals from TWGSB and Oxted.
In fine conditions the day started with the Junior Boys making light work of qualification. Victor led a closely packed team to place second behind Langley Park.
The Inter Boys went one better, winning by a point, with Charlie judging his effort to perfection to take the individual win.
Our Senior Girls went into the race with a few niggles but ran with real determination to take a surprise victory from pre-race favourites Guildford High.
The Senior Boys gave it their all, but alas it was not to be. They will bounce back for the major races in the new year.
The Cup Final returns to Leeds on 7 December. Good luck to the squads with their preparation.
Well done to Victor, Sam, Ed, Oscar, Bailey and Henry in the Jnr boys, Charlie, Luka, Theo, Harry, Tom and Jamie in the Inter boys and Olivia, Ruby, Polly, Isla and Amy in the Seniors.
Well done to the Junior Cross Country team (Sam, Ed, Oscar, Bailey, Henry and Victor) for an excellent week, winning the Junior Knole Run and qualifying for the National Finals!
