Latin is not just a fascinating subject in its own right but it is also highly regarded for its academic rigour and it develops skills which are essential to the world of work. It develops logical thinking and the ability to understand the mechanics of language and as a consequence develops communication skills. It develops the ability to understand other cultures and beliefs and to grasp the impact the Romans have had on our own civilisation. As the great Roman orator Cicero said, “To be ignorant of what occurred before you were born is to remain always a child.” In addition, when studied further up the school.
